Nature

In the local area it’s possible to visit the natural oasis of Torre Flavia, a wet-land area important for the protection of migratory birds and for the conservation of the remains of what was once the coast of Lazio - sand dunes and an ample system of lakes, coastal ponds, marshes, great forests, plains and rich fauna that today is testimony to the iconography and historical documenting of the region. There are numerous other natural sites of interest such as the Oasis del WVF of Palo or Lake Bracciano.

Culture

The Hotel alle Tamerici is located only a few minutes away from the Etruscan Necropolis of Cerveteri, the “Banditaccia”, a UNESCO heritage site. Cerveteri belonged to the powerful Etruscan Dodecapoli which reigned over the central Italian region before the advent of Rome and the Romans expanding into the north. The Roman expansion lead to the gradual decadence of Etruscan culture. The whole region around present-day Cerveteri shows remnants of Etruscan culture, with a high concentration of necropolis (Sorbo, Monte Abatone) or excavation sites. The coast in particular is strewn with numerous Etruscan and Roman archaeological sites.

The hinteland is rich in petite medieval centres, castles and picturesque villages, including, from north to south: the Castle Odescaldi di Santa Marinella, the Castle and Torre Saracena di Santa Severa, the Castle Orsini-Odescalchi di Bracciano with it’s museum, the Castellaccio dei Monteroni di Ladispoli, the Botgo di Ceri and Tragliata, the Castle Falconieri di Torrimpietra and the Castel San Giorgio di Maccarese.

Finally, it’s worth noting the vicinity of Ostica Antica with its famous excavations, the Castello di Giulio II and the Torre Boacciana.

Visiting Rome

The position of the Hotel alle Tamerici, on the coast at the gates of Rome along the Aurelia route and motorway from Rome to Civitavecchia, makes the hotel particularly suitable to visitors arriving from the north in car without entering into Rome and its traffic congested streets. The rail links between Ladispoli and Rome are simple and quick. The parking facilities within the hotel’s own grounds can be used by guests while they visit the capital for daily visits.

Sea and Sports

The sea near to the Hotel alle Tamerici is perfect for bathing and the beach is only a short stroll away. The swimming pool in the park area has hydromassage and is open during the hot months. The exposed location to the wind and currents make the area particularly well suited to surfing, wind surfing and other recreational sports. Horse riding is also popular with the Circolo Ippico EquiConfor only 15 minutes from the hotel. There are also various cycling routes in the vicinity. Golfers will find themselves at home in the Hotel alle Tamerici with tee time easily facilitated and bookings at the most prestigious golf courses of the capital and surrounding area quickly arranged.

Wine and Food

The Officina Gastronimica alle Tamerici (the “Tamerici Gastronomic Workshop”) receives, studies and elaborates on food farming products from the region and in particular local fish dishes. Relations and collaborations between the restaurant and local wine cellars, dairy and other various producers from the area (such as the IGP Ladispoli artichoke) have been cultivated over a long time and are patrimony to hotel guests interested in tasting and buying typical regional products.

Shuttle Service

From our Online Booking Service it’s possible to reserve a shuttle bus from Fiumicino Airport or the Port of Civitavecchia. For all arrivals it’s possible to reserve a transfer from the hotel by telephone, e-mail or fax. Guests can hire vehicles within the hotel with reservations made a few days in advance.

From Fiumicino Airport
  • Taxi: A taxi trip from the airport would be quite expensive. We advise asking the cost of the journey before entering the taxi.

  • Train: The train connects Fiumicino Airport with Trastevere Rome. Trains for Civitavecchia, Grosseto and Pisa leave every 30 minutes stopping in Ladispoli within half an hour.

From Rome
  • Train: Trains leave every 30 minutes from Stazione Termini, Tuscolana train station, Ostiense and Trastevere in direction Civitavecchia, Grosseto and Pisa. The journey time for Ladispoli/Cerveteri is 30/45 minutes.

  • Taxi:  Taking a taxi from the centre of Rome is more expensive than using the hotel’s shuttle service. Again we advise enquiring how much the cost of a journey is.

  • By Car:  Taking Via Aurelia for 37 km exit at the exit for Ladispoli, Palo Laziale and continue towards the built-up centre. At the second roundabout exit at the 3rd exit on Via dei Delfini and continue until the sea. Taking the A12 motorway exit at Ladispoli/Cerveteri and exit at Ladispoli/Palo Laziale.
