The building in which the Hotel alle Tamerici Ladispoli is situated belongs to the Istituto Colle Bianco di San Michele Arcangelo. The founder of the organisation, father Renato Calzolari, priest, painter, sculptor and musician, was set up as a holiday home for the clergy but in reality became used as a seaside holiday camp for children, sacrificing the original project for the good of adolescents and improving their lives. After the war, Renato continued the project creating two more institutes in the Piemonte region of northern Italy.
With the passage of time, social and legislative changes brought an end to the age of great houses taking care of children. The work of father Renato Calzoli, along with his pedagogy, continued until his death and his influence remains to this day. The Institute Colle Bianco adapted its work to the times, orientating its attention to the places in the world where children suffer the greatest.
The complete revitalisation of the old structure of Marina di Palo came about as a result of the starting of a commercial activity, of which the proceeds could be used to help underprivileged children. The company that runs the structure has stuck to the same vision of the board’s owner and makes the project functional by utilising the ideas and insight of Father Renato Calzolari. The aim was to be “in the market” and to win over the customer with the quality of service, the objective is to better oneself. The hope is that of resting on the seashore, on a conciliatory road, with a sense of solidarity in which it’s possible to bump into travellers, tourists and merchants on their different paths, for their sole reasons and in their unrepeatable experiences. |
